Alderwood. July 17th.
I’m starting my journal. With this and that, these are important days I am living through. And it should be said, they are not very safe days.
And so, let these writings be a true and unbreakable testament. This will be the best memory of a refugee’s days, which has been my experience, already in the past, unchangeable and unbreakable.
The words of our gardens turkey have been engraved in my mind, “History is our teacher and mirrors truth”. Good words, honest words! For this deep wisdom, the turkey deserves the most sincere dedication. But where is he today, our garden’s brightest star?
It wouldn’t be fair not to mention our friend Pilkio, the badger. He deserves eternal thanks and honor! If not for his care and shelter from all sorts of misfortunes, I would have died. I would have been a fish out of water, and you wouldn’t have this journal to read. I still think friendship and honesty is for the best. Amongst all the noises of war and the gunfire I became convinced of this. All my loyalties are here an open book.
Like that day the fisherman took me across the lake, I said “Long live sacrifices and friendship!” Now I say, “Long live friendship!”
